Sculptural, timeless and full of character, the Jadelle Ceramic Garden Stool brings a quiet sense of ceremony to any corner of the home. The hexagonal form is finished in a deep antique green glaze that pools and breaks across the surface, revealing warm speckled undertones where the light catches. No two pieces glaze identically.
A form with 800 years of history
The ceramic garden stool traces back to Song dynasty scholar gardens, where pierced barrel and hexagonal forms were placed among rocks and water to invite pause. Jadelle carries that lineage into contemporary Australian homes, with traditional ruyi cloud motifs cut through each of the six faces so light passes through the body rather than stopping at it.
Seat, side table, plant stand
Pull it up as extra seating when guests arrive, then leave it beside an armchair as a side table for a book and a cup. In an entry hall it holds a vase of branches. On a balcony or verandah it lifts a fern or Japanese maple to eye level. Beside a freestanding bath it carries towels and a candle. The compact 350mm footprint means it works in the spaces where a full chair or side table would crowd.
Chinese and Japandi interiors
The pierced ruyi motif and reactive glaze sit naturally within new Chinese, Japandi, wabi-sabi and warm minimalist schemes. Against oatmeal linen, pale oak and lime-washed walls, the antique green reads as a considered accent rather than a novelty. It is the piece that tells visitors the room was composed, not furnished.
Indoor and outdoor use
The high-fired glazed body handles rain and humidity, making it suitable for covered outdoor areas such as verandahs, balconies and courtyards. In frost-prone regions, bring the piece under cover through winter, as trapped moisture can stress any glazed ceramic in freeze-thaw conditions. Always place on a level surface. Ceramic is durable but rigid, so it does not tolerate impact or being dragged across hard flooring.
